What is Tarinasaalis?
Tarinasaalis is a collection in which library professionals present and recommend some of the best children’s and young adult books published in 2025. The collection also includes recommendations for games suitable for children and young people, children’s music, as well as materials for children and young people from Viittomakielinen kirjasto (the Finnish Sign Language Library).
The Tarinasaalis collection is now produced for the fourth time. The first set was compiled from materials published in 2022. In the Tarinasaalis collection, the themes have been divided among the participating libraries. Each library has produced its recommendation videos in its own way and submitted them to Kirjastokaista as part of the collection.
The idea for the Tarinasaalis collection originally came from Espoo City Library. The production of Tarinasaalis is coordinated jointly by the National Special Assignment for Promoting Reading among Children and Young People at Seinäjoki City Library (Seinäjoki Erte) and Kirjastokaista.
The Tarinasaalis videos produced by libraries have been published according to the libraries’ preferences either on the Kirjastokaista platform or on the participating libraries’ own YouTube channels. The videos have then been brought together on Kirjastokaista as the Tarinasaalis collection.
This video has been brought to Kirjastokaista from the Kirjastokurre YouTube channel.
