This live streaming video includes a presentation by Lisbet Vestergaard<\/strong>, Project Manager, Danish Think Tank Libraries for the Future, \u201cChildren’s and Young Adult’s Reading Culture Today – What is Happening with the Joy of Reading?\u201d At the start of the presentation the moderator of the conference P\u00e4ivi Jokitalo introduces Vestergaard.<\/p>\n

Lisbet Vestergaard is project manager at the Danish think tank Libraries of the Future. She has studied Comparative Literature and Modern Culture & Cultural Dissemination at Copenhagen University and from 2007\u20132015 she was an advisor at the The Agency for Culture and Palaces i Denmark. Lisbet has for the last decade focused on the development of public libraries, early literacy, cooperation between schools and libraries, and different joy of reading campaigns and programmes.<\/p>\n

Nordic Libraries Annual is an annual conference looking at topical issues in public libraries and library development. In 2022 the conference was organized 2-3.11 in Helsinki, at the Central Library Oodi. Most of the programme was also streamed online. The theme for NLA 2022 was Literacy, Libraries and The Civil Society.<\/p>\n

Libraries cultivate literacy for all ages. Literacy is a skill, but also a life-long practice of discovery, learning, and joy. Literacy has specific outcomes for personal and societal well-being by promoting participation to culture and society. It creates a sense of security and strengthens the democratic base of our communities.<\/p>\n

The conference was organized by the Regional State Administrative Agencies in Finland in cooperation with Central Library Oodi and Library Channel (Kirjastokaista).<\/p>\n
