This live streaming video includes a presentation by Riitta Hanifi<\/strong>, Researcher, Statistics Finland, \u201cReading Skills are Redefined on the Web: Is Reading in a Crisis?\u201d At the start of the presentation the moderator of the conference P\u00e4ivi Jokitalo introduces Hanifi.<\/p>\n

Riitta Hanifi works as a researcher at Statistics Finland on leisure and time use surveys. She has a Master of Social Sciences from the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. Her key interests include leisure time and changes in its research, social relationships and changes in civil society, as well as the effects of new technology on the changes in reading habits in different population groups.<\/p>\n

Nordic Libraries Annual is an annual conference looking at topical issues in public libraries and library development. In 2022 the conference was organized 2-3.11 in Helsinki, at the Central Library Oodi. Most of the programme was also streamed online. The theme for NLA 2022 was Literacy, Libraries and The Civil Society.<\/p>\n

Libraries cultivate literacy for all ages. Literacy is a skill, but also a life-long practice of discovery, learning, and joy. Literacy has specific outcomes for personal and societal well-being by promoting participation to culture and society. It creates a sense of security and strengthens the democratic base of our communities.<\/p>\n

The conference was organized by the Regional State Administrative Agencies in Finland in cooperation with Central Library Oodi and Library Channel (Kirjastokaista).<\/p>\n
