The American Resource Center celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2016. After the Second World War, the United States set up libraries around the world in affiliation with its embassies. In Helsinki, such a library started in Kalevankatu with a modest collection of 2000 volumes. Nowadays, the ARC Library is located in Fabianinkatu in the University of Helsinki\u2019s Kaisa library.<\/p>\n
The materials in the ARC Library are in English and made by Americans. Most of the customers are students and researchers at the University of Helsinki. Teachers and high school students also utilize ARC\u2019s collections. The basic idea of the library is still the same as 70 years ago: the library is open to all and its services are available to everyone in Finland.<\/p>\n
