Pablo Riquelme: the man behind Helsinki City Library’s new concept

Pablo Riquelme, interior architect from design agency Kuudes kerros, is the man behind the Helsinki City Library’s new concept. Kuudes kerros has created a spatial and visual concept for Helsinki City Library, and also redesigned customer service. The aim was to improve service quality, the interaction between staff and customers and the customer’s experience.

Jari Danielsson, CEO of Kuudes kerros, compared libraries to private sector companies like Starbucks, banks and film theatres and stated: ‘We do not consume ‘public services’ with a different attitude. Our expectations are the same. If libraries fail to meet these expectations, they will lose their connection with the customers’. But what is Pablo Riquelme’s message to the libraries and library staff?
