Kirjastokaista.fi is a web service available for everybody. It opens views for libraries, library field, literature and in a wider form to culture through videos and radio programs. At Kirjastokaista.fi you will find interesting librarians, changing cultural themes and numerous friends of libraries and cooperation partners. Programs of Kirjastokaista are divided to culture marketing- and culture programs designed for all the friends of libraries and literature as well as to contents that address the communication in library field and current contents inside the field. Uploading videos on Kirjastokaista
One of our aims is to be genuinely libraries’s mutual nationwide web service that produces content that is easily shared and utilized. If you produce programs suitable for Kirjastokaista and wish to be part of it, feel free to contact us! This way locally produced programs meets the interests of new viewers as Kirjastokaista’s range of programs becomes even more versatile. Our Kirjastokaista-team will go through programs sent by different libraries in order to confirm that copyright issues among with other technical affairs are in harmony with Kirjastokaista’s editorial principles.
Publishing videos in other web services
Kirjastokaista’s programs are made for free share. It is more than welcome to share and publish our programs on other websites and services.
Technical information about videos
Kirjastokaista uses Vimeo for uploading produced videos. SD-, HD- and mobile versions are available for all videos. Videos are viewable with almost all Flash- or HTML5-players. Videos can also be viewed straight from Vimeo.

Background
Kirjastokaista is being funded by Ministry of Education and Culture. Kirjastokanava-project was initially started at 10.1.2009. The first user interface was published 11.12.2009 during the pilot stage in cooperation with Kuntakanava (currently Kunta.TV). The Kirjastokanava-project proceeded to its present form subsequent to changing its name to Kirjastokaista and advancing the user interface. Kirjastokaista was published 3.29.2010. Due to the publication of Kirjastokaista the radio- and video productions of different libraries has been centraliced to one web service, Kirjastokaista, which is being constanty developed and improved further.
